A warm welcome to our new Principal Officer, Julia le Roux

Dear Members

Last month we informed you about the retirement of our Principal Officer Fiona Robertson.

Today I have the great pleasure, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to introduce you to our new Principal Officer, Julia le Roux. Julia will take up her role on 1 November 2023 and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience that we believe will be invaluable for Anglo Medical Scheme's continuous success.

Julia is a distinguished professional with an extensive academic background. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and LLB from the University of Cape Town, a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from the University of the Free State and a certificate in Trustee Training from Wits University. This combination of legal expertise and financial acumen will undoubtedly serve us well in these complex and ever-evolving times for our healthcare industry in South Africa.

Julia's journey in the insurance and healthcare sector began as a legal advisor, where she applied her skills and developed a deep understanding of the intricacies of our industry. Her dedication and passion for healthcare led her to the role of Principal Officer at Nedgroup Medical Aid Scheme, a position she held for 12 years. Her most recent position was as the Principal Officer of the Old Mutual Staff Medical Aid Fund. With a remarkable 22 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Julia brings a level of expertise that is truly commendable.

Beyond her professional achievements, Julia is also passionate about health and fitness in her personal capacity. Her commitment to wellness is reflected in her participation in a range of demanding endurance events, including Ironman, Two Oceans, Double Century road-bike races, and the challenging Trans Baviaans mountain bike event.

Julia's appointment as our new Principal Officer is our statement of commitment and confidence to continue to deliver great value to our members and employers. Julia's blend of legal, financial and healthcare expertise, coupled with her personal passion for wellness, makes her an ideal fit for our medical scheme.
